Quantinuum chosen by DARPA to advance to first stage of quantum benchmarking initiative

Quantinuum, a contributor in quantum computing with the world’s strongest quantum laptop, has been chosen by the Defence Superior Analysis Tasks Company (DARPA), a analysis and growth company of the United States Division of Defence, to take part within the first stage of the company’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI).

QBI goals to evaluate the feasibility of constructing an industrially helpful quantum laptop by 2033. Profitable QBI performers will advance by levels A, B and C; Stage A requires performers to explain their utility-scale quantum laptop with a path to near-term realisation, the place utility-scale means the computational worth exceeds prices.

As validated in a current unbiased benchmarking research by a bunch of establishments on the forefront of quantum computing analysis, Quantinuum’s quantum methods are the best performing within the business. Final 12 months, Quantinuum printed its growth roadmap, outlining a path to a common, fully-fault tolerant quantum laptop by 2029. Past this public roadmap, Quantinuum plans to scale to even bigger machines within the early a part of the 2030s, aligning with the aims of QBI.

“We’re honoured to collaborate with DARPA and stay up for working carefully with their check and analysis workforce as they assess our roadmap and technological method,” stated Rajeeb Hazra, the president and CEO of Quantinuum. “With our roadmap firmly on monitor, we’re assured in our means to ship on DARPA’s aims for QBI.”

Microsoft and NVIDIA will participate in Quantinuum’s Stage A effort, constructing on their long-standing collaborations with Quantinuum in advancing commercially scalable quantum computing.
